About the Course:

Forward thinking firms realize that competitive intelligence can no longer be a peripheral business activity manned by professionals who can only devote their residual time to CI efforts. Rather, competitive intelligence must be integrated with the strategic planning, business development, finance and legal teams to provide management with a view of the future.

Competitive intelligence must be dedicated to focusing the senior-most management team to position the enterprise to seize future opportunities and avoid potential threats ahead of competitors. Competitive intelligence must take into account a host of external factors to enhance the odds of success of implementing plans as well as to make provisions for unknowables.

This unique seminar will present case studies and provide the attendees with a coherent framework for developing a future-focused and proactive competitive intelligence initiative. Issues to be addressed include best practices for:

  • Collecting and synthesizing data
  • Evaluating and retaining subject matter experts
  • Forecasting
  • Building scenarios
  • Forming an intelligence team
  • Detecting blind spots
  • Methodologies to reach the above objectives include:

  • Systems thinking
  • Trend analysis
  • Forecast assessment
  • Strategic implications
  • Scenario generation
  • Developing the “Futures Wheel”
